iVolume 2.0

iVolume:
What's the difference between iVolume 1.x and the new iVolume 2.x?
The strategy of adjusting the songs has completely changed. iVolume 1.x adjusted the songs by setting the 'Volume Adjustment' slider that you can find in the 'Options' section of the information dialog of iTunes for each song ('File > Get Info > Options > Volume Adjustment'). The 'Sound Check' feature had to be turned off for that. That old method worked great when playing songs in iTunes, but there were many drawbacks especially for iPod owners: It never really worked perfectly on iPods - there was an annoying option for compensating wrong behaviour of older iPods but for newer iPods this also did not help; adjusted playing over the line-out port of the iPod docks did not work; burning adjusted CDs was not possible; there was no way to easily turn off the adjusted playing at all; protected songs bought from iTunes Music Store were always played back completely unadjusted and many more things ...
The new adjustment method introducted with iVolume 2.0 that is based on the built-in 'Sound Check' function of iTunes solves all those problems and is a huge improvement compared to the previous versions of iVolume. So the 'Sound Check' feature has to be turned on now. The volume adjustment for each song can be found in the 'Summary' section of the information dialog of iTunes for each song ('File > Get Info > Summary > Volume').
